Christopher Martin Is A Very Big Deal
The Big Deal Boss himself, Christopher Martin, is living up to his moniker and proving that he is in fact a very big deal.
The artist dropped his debut album 'Big Deal' on February 10th and it has since soared to Number 1 on the Reggae Albums chart in Japan. It's hard to believe that this is Chris Martin's debut album. Jamaica has seen him grow up in front of our eyes (and through our ears) since winning Rising Stars in 2005.
Since then, Martin has been consistent in blessing us with his amazing voice and making hit after hit, including "Chill Spot", "Cheater's Prayer", "Take My wings", "I'm A Big Deal" (the title track off the album), and so many others.
This debut album has shown Martin's growth, both as a man and an artist. With tracks like "Lady Of The Night" and "Magic", Chris is undoubtedly taking the crown as the male sex symbol in Reggae & Dancehall music. He has successfully been able to combine the two genres, creating his own style , which he calls "Sugar Reggae", a name that we can all agree is very fitting, considering the sound of his voice.
This album has shown Martin's ability to make great music for local and international air waves, fusing both genres of Dancehall and reggae. It also shows his ability to carry an entire project by himself while simultaneously including a few of his musical friends like Busy Signal (Steppin'), Chip (Under The Influence Remix), Destiny Moriah (Long Distance Lover) and even Tanto Blacks who is adlibs on One Life.
All in all, Chris Martin's "Big Deal" is a success and is a project that is very much needed in the local music industry. Congrats Chris on being a BIG DEAL!
