Make-Up Meltdown

Whew! Is it just me or has anybody else noticed the swelteration of the heat this summer! Temperatures it seems are at a record high…and in this weather, it’s hard to wrap your mind around wearing one more layer of anything much less keeping up with the overly dramatized, highly contour-ized makeup trend that’s become so popular. Word of advice…quit while you’re ahead! In this heat…heavy layers of makeup is sure to run and the time spent angularizing your face, sculpting your cheekbones and trimming centimeters off your nose is bound to go to waste once the heat hits you and all that drama begins to run…fix spray or not.Try to keep it light this summer and beat the heat with these summer proof, heat-clad makeup tips:

Rise and Prime! Primer is that product you apply after moisturizer but before foundation. It keeps your foundation in place with minimal re-touches.

Sweat proof your mascara: Opt to go the waterproof route. Just make sure to get a good eye-makeup remover to tackle it at the end of the day. This writer is partial to the Caudalie Makeup Remover and the Maybelline Expert Eyes Makeup Remover.

Less is more: On the note of foundation…keep it as light and as sheer as possible. Think of summer as a time to let your skin breathe. Trade in your regular potion for a water based formula or tinted moisturizer. If you need the coverage of a regular foundation, apply with a cool damp sponge or apply a silicone based version instead. The silicone acts as a buffer between your skin and the humidity in the air.

Take a load off: Switch to sheerer eye shadows and keep them neutral. Cream shadows are light, cool and more transparent.

Don’t forget to blush: Don’t skip blush as this helps to give a healthy glow to the skin. Try a cream blush as these tend to be lighter and give a more natural and dewey finish. Powders can be a bit heavy and may look caked on in the summer sun. Yikes!

Don’t forget your lip balm or lip gloss and do NOT think of stepping out without oil absorbing sheets.

The Elf Green Tea shine eraser is my fave! Above all else, don’t forget to hydrate, slather on your SPF moisturizers and cover up to dodge the harmful rays but most importantly, this summer… the glam squad here at Panache challenges you to love the skin you’re in! |P|

Peace Out!Latoya J.
