Tobago Fashion Weekend will open the runway for its highly anticipated 2012 event from May 25 to May 27, 2012 with the theme “Dan Dan Fiesta.” In its second year, Tobago Fashion Weekend 2012 (TFW 2012) continues the momentum of past success by increasing the featured designers, opening a Fashion Park for retail options, incorporating educational opportunities, and welcoming Anya Ayoung Chee back to the land that inspired her exciting Project Runway victory.

Launching with a cocktail party on May 25, the TFW 2102 runway then opens on May 26-27 at the beautiful Pigeon Point, Tobago. The weekend will feature an extensive Fashion Park that will cure the “Where can I get that?” dilemma. Patrons will have the opportunity to purchase items from on- runway and off-runway collections. So if they see a piece they like on the runway they can purchase it the same evening.
At TFW 2012, designers aren’t just showing their collections, they are exposed to retail and financial opportunities for the long-term development of their product through partnership with state and private institutions. The event also gives buyers greater capability to purchase designs for the market.
TFW 2012 is organized by Designers United Stores (DUS), a non-profit group dedicated to enhancing the local fashion industry into a thriving and viable enterprise with entrepreneurial opportunities across many sectors.

“We at Designers United Stores are committed to further evolve as an incubator for the local fashion industry,” said Ashley Christmas, director of DUS. “This year we are confident that Tobago Fashion Weekend will benefit all the industry stakeholders. We want to take it even further and benefit our beautiful island, too, by fostering an industry that values and protects our environment so you’ll see many green and renewable energy practices incorporated into the event.”
With a focus on showcasing local model talent, TFW 2012 will fill its runway shows with the best of the best in Trinidad & Tobago. Those interested in modeling for TFW 2012 must participate in the model casting on May 5-6, 2012.
