A three-mile stretch of beach on the island of Barbuda was renamed Princess Diana Beach on July 1, during a ceremony celebrating the day she would have turned 50.

"Barbuda became a sanctuary for the princess, and she seemed to find solace in the beauty of the island," says Dorcas Beazer-Williams, tourism chairwoman for the Barbuda Council.
